Get Involved

Let's build better brains together

Reach Out and Read Minnesota has a number of ways to get involved and share the brain building power of books across our state.

Book Drives: Our partner clinics are always grateful to receive gently used children's books they can provide in waiting rooms, in exam rooms, and to sick children. In addition to the new books families receive at the well-child visits, these used books can help build families' home libraries, a vital resource for any developing child! We have worked with schools, offices, community service clubs, and many other businesses and organizations to provide used books to children across the state. Learn more.

Reading to Children: A number of our partner clinics accept volunteers to read to children in their waiting rooms. Volunteer reading opportunities are available according to clinic need. Clinics generally require background checks to have direct contact with children.

Book Sorting:  Love to organize? We welcome volunteers to come help us sort through our donations at our book storage site.

Start your own Campaign: Whether it's running a marathon or starting a birthday fundraiser, there are a number of ways you can get your community engaged in our program! Create a group fundraiser via GoFundMe Charity or Facebook, Consider joining our team at the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon in October, or Grandma's Marathon in June.

Check out our Event Calendar:  We have several events annual events open to the public each year. We'd love for you to join us!

Have another idea? We'd love to hear from you. Let us know how you can help us build brains across Minnesota!

Spring 2020 Note: Please be aware that many of our regular volunteer opportunities are suspended due to health risks surrounding COVID-19. This includes book donations and volunteer reading at clinics. Please contact us if you'd like to learn more.
