Resources for Providers and Clinic Teams

Text: "Make the story come alive. When you're looking at a book with your child, try using different voices, loud, soft or silly!"

Our reading tip slides for use in clinic screens are available in English and Spanish

See below for information on:

  • Reach Out and Read provider training
  • Clinic materials, including posters and bookmarks
  • Gently used books
  • Learning resources

Training
We ask that all participating primary care providers complete our CME and MOC-2 accredited training. The training is hosted on myror.org . If you haven't yet been registered in our system, your clinic's internal site coordinator can send you a link to begin the training. If you aren't sure who your site coordinator is, please send us an email and we will get you set up.

Posters, bookmarks, reading tip slides and more
We have a number of specially designed resources to help boost our brain-building message for the families you serve, including bookmarks with relevant reading tips by age groups, posters for waiting rooms and exam rooms,  and digital reading tip slides for waiting room screens. You can access digital copies of  many of these resources on myror.org or by emailing us. Clinics are permitted to use these files for printing. We also often have print versions of our bookmarks, posters, and other materials available for free to our clinics. Reach out to your assigned Reach Out and Read program staff member to see what resources may be available to you.

Gently used books
Reach Out and Read Minnesota has a supply of gently used books which have been donated by community members. These books are not used for our core program, but instead are used to stock waiting rooms, to give to children outside of our core age range, at sick visits, or at community events. We hold several used book open houses every year at our storage facility in Bloomington where clinic staff may browse and select books to take back to their sites. These dates are shared via our clinic newsletter (sent to all Medical Champions and Site Coordinators).  Additionally, when possible, we often set-up times for clinics to pick-up books at other times of the year with prior coordination. Clinics outside the Twin Cities metro should contact their designated Program Specialist to inquire about the availability of used books.

Additional learning resources
Interested in learning more about the Reach Out and Read program and early childhood development? We invite you to delve into our National Center's Early Literacy Research Library, with dozens of peer-reviewed studies about the Reach Out and Read program and related topics. We also regularly host free webinars on topics of early learning and early relational health as a part of our Next Page learning sessions. You can view our library of recorded Next Page sessions here.
