As of January 1st of this year, three of Reach Out and Read Minnesota's longest serving champions have completed their final terms on our board of directors. These include: Joe Piket, owner of two Primrose School locations, Nick Sperling, JD, attorney, and Sylvia Sekhon, MD, a retired pediatrician. These three board members provided invaluable leadership, guidance, and service to Reach Out and Read Minnesota during a period of immense growth and transition for the organization. Each of these members served on the board of directors since Reach Out and Read Minnesota was founded as an independent 501(c)(3) organization in 2016.
"We're so incredibly grateful for the years of service Joe, Nick, and Sylvia have given to us. Their myriad contributions have helped Reach Out and Read Minnesota achieve many milestones over the years. I've learned so much from each of them and look forward to their continued involvement in other capacities," said Executive Director, Kris Hoplin.
While these departing members will be deeply missed on the board, we are pleased that each of these members will continue to participate and serve the Reach Out and Read Minnesota community in varied ways in the future.
We are also pleased to announce that five new members of the board of directors also begin their terms this month. We look forward to introducing these new members to our community next week.
