Our 2024 Diane Loeffler Legislative Champion Award Winner: Sen. Steve Cwodzinski

Watch Sen. Cwodzinski accept the award at our 2024 Spring Benefit Breakfast in May.

Reach Out and Read Minnesota's Diane Loeffler Legislative Champion Award is a biannual award given out to a Minnesota legislator who has been an outstanding champion of early learning, childcare, and health, for young children.  The award is named for the late Representative Diane Loeffler,  a state representative who served district 60A in Northeast Minneapolis for 15 years. Rep. Loeffler was a tireless advocate for all Minnesota families who believed in the power of government to  open doors of opportunity and improve the lives of all of out state's residents.

This year we are thrilled to present this award to Senator Steve Cwodzinski who currently serves state district 49, representing Eden Prairie and southern Minnetonka.  Sen. Cwodzinski was the lead Senate author of the Reach Out and Read bill in 2023, which granted transformational funding to our program, boosting our efforts to share high-quality books and evidence based early learning guidance to families all across the state.   His constant and enthusiastic advocacy for our program, and for early learning all across the state, will have resounding effects for years to come.
