Nominate an outstanding Reach Out and Read clinician in your community
2025 marks our sixth year of honoring a medical provider with the Gerald Gilchrist Medical Champion Award. Dr. Gilchrist retired from a storied career as a pediatric oncologist at the Mayo Clinic, and was one of the very early supporters of Reach Out and Read Minnesota, acting as a board member, donor, and all-around champion of our program. His ceaseless advocacy and passion for supporting the health and development of children was the inspiration for this award, which we hope honors his legacy and celebrates his memory. Dr. Gilchrist passed away in April of 2022. You can read his obituary here.
This award will honor a a medical provider who has been exceptional as a trainer, clinician, and/or clinical director; one whose exemplary personal and professional medical leadership has helped to make delivery of the Reach Out and Read program model all it can be in pediatric primary care. The recipient of the award will be honored at our annual breakfast on May 6, 2025 and will receive a plaque of recognition. The recipient's medical practice will also receive a gift of 250 books. Nominations are due by April 1st, 2025.
